Might the following be better even though the 'Frances' is female? Frances Cannell Year of Registration: 1857 Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep District: Bethnal Green County: Greater London, London, Middlesex Volume: 1c Page: 294 I would get the marriage cert then it should be possible to find the family on the census and then get the correct birth cert. 	it is possible that his birth was not registered as it was not compulsory until 1875, but it seem strange that you cant find him on any other census
