Why not try ring Liverpool Registry Office / or the Records office and ask if they can check the original.

It shouldn't be a problem as you have an official copy.

Hi Sue,

The original script from 1838 must have been badly faded and someone has traced over it. If you look at "Formerly", you'll be able to see the original slightly above.

Whoever traced it, didn't form anything that represents propper letters. It's almost like he traced the general shape of the name.

I have a cert that so far, has stumped everyone who's viewed it. If you have experience deciphering old script, then you may be able to help me.

I'm hoping to find 3/4 people who have the time and patience to work in a group from this thread. I think the only way to solve this problem will be to talk through what we are looking at.
