Assuming John's birth details are right... this is the marriage of the parents. |

Looks like altho your John was born in Scotland and his parents were Scottish, seems they lived in Northumberland in his formative years. His father was a Schoolmaster. |

Hester (John's Mum) the rest of the family has been mistranscribed, can be clearly seen as Ferguson on the image. |

Having looked at all the John Ferguson's in the area, this one is the most likely in my opinion to be Stanley's father. |

Thanks for the info so far - it matches up with the little info we have. Edith mary Baillie was a dressmaker in her twenties (from census info). Stanley's father John was a Rate Fixer (Engineer) -apparently from Stanley's birth certificate - born late 1866 or early 1867, but we don't know if that was his occupation before he moved to Barrow. It's actually my husband's dad who lost touch with his father Stanley due to a break-up in the family - he doesnt know where he is (or if he's still alive) and has memories from boyhood of his grandfather John but no traceable info. Any help would be greatly appreciated - there are so many John Ferguson's listed that might be him! |

Due to unfortunate circumstances my father lost touch with the Ferguson side of the family, based in Barrow-in-Furness ...... his father Stanley born Jan 1915,and his grandfather John who married Edith Baillie and died in Barrow in 1947. We believe Stanley went to the Manchester area in the 1960's. We would like to trace the Ferguson side back so any info on where John was born (probably Scotland) or his parents would be great. We would also like to know if anybody knows of Stanley and what happened to him after he left Barrow. |
