Maria Fitting, London, 1870's to 1880's HELP NEED

Dear Jill,
I cannot find a marriage certificate for her in Britain. I have only the birth certificate of her son who was born in 1880 in Kensington, London. On it she states that she is Maria Batchelor, formerly Fitting and that she is married to John Batchelor.
I also cannot find a birth certificate for her in Britain.
So I am left wondering if she was born and married in another country.
Also they seem to disapear again from the censuses
as there are no Maria and John Batchelor with a son called William Caleb in any of the censuses, not even 1881.
So I am left wondering if they went abroad again.
Any ideas on what I can do next to trace them much appreciated.
Is anyone else related to "Fitting" ANCESTORS?

Did her marriage certificate give her age - and her father's name and occupation?

Looking on familysearch shows lots of Maria Fittings or Vittings in Germany, so maybe tahts where she came from.

In my Tree my Great Great Grandmother was MARIA FITTING.
She married John Batchelor and registered their son William Caleb Batchelor in September 1880, in Kensington, London.

So, the history that I know regarding Maria Fitting is that in September 1880 she was in Kensington, London.

The brick wall is that I have found researching her to be completely impossible so far.

There is no record of her birth or marriage or any census records and I have searched back to 1841.

I am left wondering if she came to England from Europe or even America.

If anyone has any idea where a good place to start researching might be, or any information regarding Fitting families in the U.K. or
even whether this surname might have been altered from a European one, would they please post an answer on this board.

Any ideas greatly appreciated,
