It would be helpful if you gave the date/place of marriage and the names and dates of the children that you know of to cut down the trawling for info. You need to give every bit of info you have to help people help you.

Do you have him on a census? Where is he from? It wasn't compulsary to register births until 1875 so it is possible that his birth hasn't been registered. If thats the case, you will need to look at the parish records for his baptism.

What are the occupations of Robert and his father on the marriage cert?

I have been trying to trace Robert Proctor for years. Born 1870 he married Harriett Griggs and they a few children. However where he came from I just do not know. I have their Marriage cert but that just shows he father as "Robert Proctor". There are loads of them and I have contacted everyone on Genes with a Robert Proctor but none of them match mine. Does anyone have any way of finding out more about these common names ??
