HI.

i was trying to help a friend and failing miserably. wondered if any of you could no another way of finding Hugh Frederick Ackrill.

he was born 1846 in Glandford Brigg, linc (Kirton in lindsey)
he married Harriet Whittle in 1866 (born 1846 Mount Sorrell)
they had 8 children:
Florrie 1867, Arthur 1868, Gertrude 1871, Maude 1873, all born in Leicester. Then Beatrice 1876, Edith 1878, Ada 1880 and Joseph 1881 all born in Mansfield, Notts.

have found them in 1871 census -
have found wife and children in 1881 BUT CANT FIND HUGH...

looking for HUGH, the father in 1881/ 1891/1901 or a DEATH.

please can anyone see him. have searched all hugh frederick/ all frederick hughs etc.. have searched ackrills.. still stuck - can anyone help PLEASE?

My first thought when looking at the image was that Hugh had just got missed when the info was transferred to the sheets that we now see. I would have thought that Harriet should have been marked as Head. The image does not show Head but has been transcribed that way

This one - image is terrible but the transcription looks right - not Hugh, but possible a relation, same POB. He is a solicitor - haven't copied rest of record - lots of unrelated names as it is a hotel:

This image is on Acestry but under the name of PERRY. So have added a name correction just for Harriet but will take weeks before it appears

she is in 1901 too, but kids are all married by then except Ada & Joseph.

ada married in 1906 & Joseph married 1907, still mansfield.

in 1901 the last 2 children are in mansfield:

Still saying married in 1901 - looks as if he ran off, left her with the kids and changed his name!

The Henry William Ackrill you was Hugh Frederick's elder brother, and he was working in a solicitor's. Hugh was listed as a shoe worker in 1871
