Could the town have changed its name since 1883? I've found that to be true when looking for others.

Also, I've used MapQuest when trying to find towns in Ontario, Canada only to discover a few of the small towns aren't listed.

If you Google 'PARISIAN' Theres a picture of the ship.

There is a Ferry Point on multimap in the US

Go to multimap and in the search (dropdown box) select rest-of-the world, and put Ferry Point in the field for town then click search

The GRO marine Deaths index shows an entry in 1883

Surname STARKIE
Name Jonathan
Age 30
Name of Vessel PARISIAN
Page 178

Armed with that information you could buy a copy of his death certificate from the GRO

l do not have much to go on, looking for anyone who has access to Canadian or US records
Johnathan Starkie b 1853 Cockermouth, Cumberland, occupation Tailor, died on his way to US, take it he died at sea, he was buried at Ferry Point, Canada in 1883, so presume he left England for US in that year, have looked to see were Ferry Port, Canada was, and cannot find it anywere, any help or advice would be appreciated, regards
