Yes, I tend to agree with you Ozi. I don't think she was asked or that it occured to her to mention it.

This morning, I ordered the death cert of Thomas junior and also the marriage of his parents. I'll have to wait a while before I order Thomas seniors death cert as I have a limited budget.

I would like to tackle Mary Elizabeth Wright's family because they're a mystery, but I think I'll leave that for another day.

Once again, thanks for all your help. You were brilliant....................as usual !

Deb, just because it doesn't say he is deceased on the marriage cert doesn't necessarily mean he's alive.

I have a cert like that & the father was dead for about 15 years. It just depends whether the question is asked.

Ozi.

Hi Andy,

I did try to research this family early this year but found it too daunting. I can remember someone finding a death ref for Thomas but I didn't order it because after looking at his daughter's marriage cert and seeing that he wasn't deceased, I didn't think it would be him.

When I decided to tackle my Smiths again, I tried to find my old thread to look at the info on it, but couldn't find it so had to start from scratch again...................that'll teach me not to save records to my shoebox.................lol

Thanks for your concern. I will order the death cert now because I'm quite sure it's him, even though his daughter's marriage cert says otherwise.

I'm hoping too, that it will have additional info about informant etc.

Hi Deb
Noticed this thread before and remembered that I had looked for this family in the past. Thought it might be someone else researching the same family so thought if I found it I would be able to pass on the name.
Finally found it from last March but it was you who said that you thought sending for Thomas jnrs death cert was a good idea. Please, please check and make sure that you haven't already sent for it - I would hate you to waste £7.

Thanks Jeanie. That's a brilliant idea. As soon as the certs arrive, I'll post info on freebmd.

Ozi, that has to be her in 51. Parents are probably on previous page for 41. I'll have a look.

hi deb
just thought you needed encouragement with your smith's . don't be daunted i too have the shame of smith ancestors. my grandmother and her sister (smiths) both married smith's, in yorkshire ahh!!!!
don't forget to add a note to freebmd alongside your smith (once you have got the certificate) i list parents, partner and children as i find them. this way it will eliminate this smith for future searchers.
happy hunting
jeannette (not a smith)

From the census records, Mary was born in Griff, Warwickshire abt 1835. She was pretty consistent with this place.

Where is Griff?
