Hi Mumsie,

You can get access to all the Scottish records at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk. Registration is free as are searches - which tell you how many records match your search criteria. Credits cost 20p a time and it costs 1 credit per page to view the results of the search. It then costs 5 credits to view the actual record - which you can save and print.

The statutory records cover births from 1855 - 1906, marriages from 1855 - 1931 and deaths from 1855 - 1956. Old Parish Records cover births and baptisms from 1553 - 1854 and banns and marriages for the same period. THe site also has all the census records as well as wills and testaments from 1513 - 1901.

My grandmother was a Ferrie from Glasgow, the family originally coming from Kirkintilloch. I've been looking backwards so far, but am gradually coming down to the more modern branches fo the family.

I had a quick look for you using the free search facility, but could find no record of a marriage between a John Ferrie and an Edith between 1920 and 1931 nor of the death of an Edith Ferrie (born 1902 to 1906) in 1930 -34.

Hope this helps and good luck with your searches.

Best wishes,

Tom Russell

Does anyone have access to the Scottish BMDs. Trying to find a marriage between John Ferrie and Edith surname not known. Edith died in childbirth in 1936 aged 32. This is all the info I have.
