Hi there,

I have tried this before, hopefully this time will be more successful.

Peter McFarlane b c1794 Lanarkshire/Paisley area married Jean Johnson or Johnston 1815 Abbey Paisley, had at least 3 sons Archibald b1816, Daniel b1819 and Peter b 1822 (my gg granddad).

I am having real trouble getting any further back than Peter and Jean, cannot find anything with details of their parents. Can anyone help.

Many thanks
Vanessa

Check out this site. There is also people you can contact regarding the surname and various other surname links that may be able to help you.
I always try and put the name and birth e.g. b c1794 into google. This is how I found this site. Always add the sites that have trees to your favourites folder under Trees, this helps you locate it next time.
Good luck with your search. Regards, Helen.

Hi Deborah,

I have used Scotlands people, thats where I got the info that I already know. Unfortunately, they dont have a marriage certificate, only the parish register of intent to marry, so no parents names, and there are about 6 possibles for peters parents in 1794. I have a feeling I may have to take a trip to Scotland to try and find out any mor details.

Regards
Vanessa
