Dear All

Sarah Smith was my Great Grandmother she was born Sarah Powell in approximately 1873 in Norton Canes, Staffordshire. Her parents were Joseph Powell and Sarah Twigger.

Upon checking the Census records she first married Mr Porter (whose first name I do not know) and she then had the following children: Ellen 1892, Joseph 1895, John 1897, Alfred 1899 and Fanny 1901 (all of which were born in Catshill, Brownhills, Staffordshire). I think than Mr Porter must have died as she is found on the Census as a Widow living with her children and a lodger Edward Hunt. (Can anyone help with regards to Mr Porter - who he was and how he died?)

I then think she married Edward Hunt (when did they get married? Where? Did they have any children? What happened to Edward?) and again became a Widow. I am not sure as to whether or not they had any children.

She then met my Great Grandfather William Charles Smith b.1876 St Mary's, Warwick, Warwickshire?) and she married him, in 1909 and they had children as follows: William Charles 1909 Brownhills, Alice, Elizabeth and George.

I have obtained my Grandfathers birth certificate (William, son of Sarah) and on this it states his Mother as: Sarah Smith previously Hunt, Previously Porter, Formerly Powell. I also think she may have been pregnant at the time that she got married as the marriage of which I have send the certificate for is listed in 1909 and my grandfather was also born in 1909!

So, if anyone out there can help me in relation to her please could you contact me.
