Try a search for Saint class tugs. there were quite a few built around 1919. Some have a similar outline to St Genny, so could be sister ships.

Christopher
Thank you but unfortunately there isn't actually a picture of the St Genny.
The list is excellent though as it adds to what we already have.
Thanks once again
Pat

No it was a totally different F C Paul.
They have a Francis F C Paul b1888.
That was the only Paul they had listed so have we all got his date of birth wrong?
Have to do some more checking

If his name was Charles Frederick this is the only birth around the right time His birth could well have been registered in the March quarter, even though he was born in the previous November. Nothing unusual in that. You don't have to repeat yourself. I think I've been helpful to you.

This is not repeat not the Charles Frederick Paul I have in my tree.

Pat

You need to click on Royal Naval Seamen on the home page, then put his name into search.

I would say the birth I found must be him, so this would give parents names.

Hi Ann
Unfortunately we do not know who his parents were.
Always lead to believe that he was an orphan.
Also know his birth date was 18/11/1882 from the Times article. Don't know whether his naval records would show his parents.
Cheers

I assume you know who his parents were, so perhaps you can find him on the census. There's a birth of a Charles Frederick in Mar quarter 1883 in Bethnal Green, ref 1c 275.

Also it looks as though his naval records may be on the documentsonline site. Costs £3-50 to download.

I am trying to find any information on the sinking of the St Genny in the English Channel on the 13/01/1930 with the loss of 23 Hands.
Only 5 men were rescued.
My Great Uncle Frederick Charles Paul Lt RN was in command of the ship.
Frederick Charles was born 18/11/1882
He was a gunner and then a Commissioned Gunner andthen Lt.
He served on several warships during WW 1.
I have been trying to find this information everywhere I can think of so I am now appealing to members of GR if they can help
Cheers Pat
