We had a lot of rain last night (where I am, of course). Need it badly.

Not very straight forward. Joseph was probably either Joseph George Sharpe or George Joseph Sharpe and his wife could have been Ann Elizabeth or Elizabeth Ann Wilson.

Geez, its so confusing. We might never know.
Census and birth cert don't seem to match.

Any ideas of what other avenues I could look? Death records or cemetry records maybe?

yip, adult christening for him at 17 and his sister Priscilla c1820.

On birth cert for George 1853 his mother is listed as Ann Sharpe ( formally Wilson) rather than nee Wilson. Not sure if that means anything.

This is the 1851 that Glitter Baby found, but her 1861 & 1871 confuse me as I've found Frederick & Sarah with relatives in Mountsorrell in 1861. The family that GB found looks right. Perhaps the parents wrote them down on their census as well. I've had a couple like that.

Did the cert have Mountsorrel for his birthplace? Do you have the address?

I know that George was definitely born in 1853 as the birth cert as I sighted it from a family member. His parents were listed as Joseph Sharpe and Ann Sharpe nee Wilson.
Can they get certificates wrong?

I got Joseph details from Family Search, which has given me Meshack and Ann. Yes, should have been 1790s not 1890s birthdates for them. This might not be right line? Had Mountsorrel connections, so thought good likelyhood.

I understand that its very late over in England, its 2pm here in New Zealand.

Will have another go through Family search.

Hi,

George was born in Mountsorrel 10/1/1853. George was an Engine Fitter and his father Joseph was a Quarryman.

Joseph's parents were Meshack Sharpe c1889 and Ann Roper 1892.

Very puzzling, I don't think its the same Joseph as George not there.

What do you think?

Nothing to suggest so far that this is the right Joseph.

How do you know his year of birth?

Where was George born?

Or occupation of Joseph

I was wondering if someone could help me locate Joseph Sharpe in the English census.

He was born in Mountsorrel Leiscester, either 1816 or 1817.
He had a son George 1853, and was married to Ann Wilson ( have birth cert for George)

I have found a Joseph Sharpe in the 1881 census married to a Elizabeth. If this is him he might have remarried.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly received.
