Sam is right, there were no certificates before July 1837.

The best you can hope for is a copy of the marriage record from the county records office.

If you can't get there yourself, then the staff may photocopy it for you since you know the date from the IGI entry - it will all depend on how many churches there were at the time in Leigh. If there were a few they might not be prepared to look through all the records, but if there was only one than they may do.

I just hope it's the right marriage, but it's certainly worth checking as there is only the one letter different in the name.

You can't get a certificate from 1832, civil registration didn't start until 1837.

I think you have asked about this marriage before. Did you check out the marriage I found before on the IGI for this couple, as I think it could be a mistranscription for your James:-

Hi
Can anyone please please help me find my gr gr grandparents marriage as i have hit a big brick wall James Tattersall (Tattison) to Mary Williams some time in 1835/6 as there first son William was baptize in Warrington Feb 1836 at St Elphins Church got everything after that but can not find his parents marriage so i can go futher back any help would be very much appreciated
