I'd like to try and find the parents of Mary Elizabeth Wright b 1857, Warton Warwickshire.
I can't go through the usual method of tracing parents as Mary was raised by her aunt and uncle and on her marriage cert, she names her uncle as her father.
I'm hoping to be able to find her mother by tracing the aunt who I suspect is the blood relative.
This is the info I have on Mary as a child in 1861 and 1871.
1861 England Census about Mary Elizabeth Wright Name: Mary Elizabeth Wright Age: 4 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1857 Relation: Niece Gender: Female Where born: Warton, Warwickshire, England Civil Parish: Polesworth County/Island: Warwickshire Country: England Street address:
Occupation:
Condition as to marriage: Registration district: Atherstone Sub-registration district: Atherstone ED, institution, or vessel: 7 Neighbors: View others on page Household schedule number: 143 Household Members: Name Age Elizabeth Marshall 37 William Marshall 41 Mary Elizabeth Wright 4
1871 England Census about Mary Elizabeth Wright Name: Mary Elizabeth Wright Age: 14 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1857 Relation: Niece Gender: Female Where born: Warton, Warwickshire, England Civil Parish: Wilnecote Ecclesiastical parish: Holy Trinity Town: Two Gates County/Island: Staffordshire Country: England Street address:
Occupation:
Condition as to marriage:
Disability: Registration district: Tamworth Sub-registration district: Fazeley ED, institution, or vessel: 3 Neighbors: View others on page Household schedule number: 15 Household Members: Name Age Alice Blunt 20 Thomas Colidge 41 Albert Allen Haney 8 Elizabeth Marshall 47 William Marshall 50 William Wilson 16 Mary Elizabeth Wright 14
There are 6 birth refs that could be her but without first finding a reference check for one of her parents, then I'll never know which one is her.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem ?

Yes. There's quite a few William Marshall's that married Elizabeth's and I'm not sure how I can narrow this down.

Are any of the births you found for her registered in Chipping Norton, as that covers Worton?

I was looking at this one. Geographically, it seems to be the closest to Warton. On google maps it's only a few miles away but some of the others aren't that far from Warton either.
Name: Mary Elizabeth Wright Year of Registration: 1857 Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar District: Atherstone County: Leicestershire, Warwickshire Volume: 6d Page: 326
If I can find the aunt's marriage, I'll have a maiden name for mother to use as a ref check.

Thanks LFW. I was also looking at the Atherstone on the census and matching it up to the birth ref.
It does look like the right one but I can never be 100% certain without a ref checking point.

The Fox and Hounds is on the previous image, two families away. I don't think your family are at the same address as there are two diagonal lines after each of the families which usually means the end of a household.

William and Elizabeth are married on the 1851. He was a boot and shoemaker then. Wonder where the farm in 1861 came from?

Helllllloooo you lovely people. My, haven't you been busy!
Ooohhhhh..........I'm so excited. It looks like you've found Mary Elizabeth's parent's.
So, Paul died at the end of 1860 while Sarah was still pregnant with Sarah/Maria. The 61 census has to be her because the boarder Joseph has her maiden name of Slaney (wonder who he is?).
In the 71 census, she has a new husband, Henry. She married another Wright? I wonder if he was a brother or cousin of Paul's?
But the biggest question I have is, why was Mary Elizabeth raised by aunt Elizabeth and not mother Sarah? She kept all her other children.
Well, I've got a few certs to buy now but I'll have to buy them a bit at a time...................oohhh, I wish I could win the lotto.................lol
Thank you all for the wonderful help you've given me.
Big kisses to you all
xxxxxx
