When you read this you'l no doubt think I'm crazy for even trying to find this lady but I recently discovered I have a half sister from my dads side. All i know is her name is Nicky, her mum was called Jill and she had her when she was very young. She would have been born around 1974 in the Beverley area.
When I have so little information I dont know where to start. My dad has never had much contact with his daughter following the wishes of her family and so I dont think that a birth certificate/record etc would even have his name on.
I've been searching for ages but this is still all quite new to me, anything anyone could suggest or do to help would be HUGELY appreciated.
Thanks!

Julie

Are you able to find out what Jill surname is

Eileen

If your father will give you Jill's surname, then you could send for your half-sister's birth cert, or go to London and look it up in the registers and get the cert. that way.
If Jill was very young as you say, then is it possible that she did not actually keep the baby, and that it was adopted.
There are questions there that can be quickly answered by your father, but maybe he is not willing, or maybe you would rather not ask him as these things are very difficult. Jills surname and the area she lived in are the best starting point.
Good luck and p.m. me if you need further suggestions. Us adoptees have quite good searching ideas.
