Manchester Marriage Registers

The Collegiate & Parish Church of Manchester was not elevated to Cathedral status until after the formation of the Manchester Diocese in 1847. ( For convenience the IGI lists the church as being Manchester Cathedral from 1573).Marriages here pre-July 1837 do not record the age of the bride and groom, nor their parents. A parent or parents could be witnesses but there is no easy way of knowing if were the case.

Is there anyone out there who might be looking up marriage registers for Manchester Cathedral.

I have a bride, Jane Hyde, marrying an Alexander Barker on April 6th, 1829.From five Census records her possible birthdate is anywhere between 1811 and 1816 which makes it a bit difficult to find her.

I am hoping the marriage register might give her age and a parent which would be a great help. It might also name the bridegroom's parents.

Thanks

Ted Hill
