Ah -mother! Got it maybe the reason I couldn't find her was because I was looking for a Maria Hill living with a William Hill or a widow Hill not a single mum with a different surname!

It seems she says she was born in Aberystwith for the censuses.

Its really her birth I'm after. Her marriage certificate says her father is William Hill, a miner (like everyone else!) I have looked for her before but with no luck.

I think that could well be her in 1871. The childrens names and ages are right. Don't suppose it gives the relationship to head of John Howell Davies and Thomas Lewis??

I'm trying to find Maria Hill born c1840 daughter of William Hill.
I know she married John Jones in 1860 in Aberytswith,Wales and the 1881 census says she was born there, I'm not convinced, so need to check other census records.
