An ancestor was in prison for failure to pay Bastardy Bonds on the 1851 Census. I have discovered that William Comins (Cumine on the record) was incarcerated 28th Feb. 1851 for two consecutive months, in North Riding Gaol, Northallerton, NRY. |

The Quarter Sessions records were searched from April 1849 to April 1851 by an experienced researcher but nothing was found, unfortunately. |
