Hi Joan,
Yes she marries John Jones and has 13 children.
But I still can't find her birth!!! I think maybe she was registarded as Mary Lewis because I can't find a Maria/Maria /Marrie at all.

They stayed local living in Llanbaden Fahr, Aberystwith all their lives. Maria is transcibed as Martha on the 1881 census but its wrong. The children seem to stay too. the eldest is Charles born1861 then Eliza Jane,Margaret, Ann Marie, Rebecca Thomas Lewis,David, William Thomas, Jenkin, Hamilton,Samuel, my great gran dad ,Albert and Frederick. Nowe theres a big family!!!

Louise,

A possible birth record for Mariah/Marie/Maria:

Female Lewis 1841 Apr-May-Jun Aberystwyth Cardiganshire

Remember she was only a few months old on the 1841 census so she would have had to be born prior to the month the census was taken.

Thanks Joan.
I didn't think to look for Lewis Lewis. Is that how they registered children who didn't have a name yet? I would have thought they would be just male Lewis or female Lewis?
Or that Female Lewis could be promising. As you say she was only a month or so old when the census was taken in June 1841.
You've been a great help, this line of my tree has been very neglected as Jones are so tough in Wales and then all I drew with Maria Hill was blanks ...until today, Thank you

Louise,

For your information, according to Ancestry.com, the 1841 Census of Wales wa taken on the night of June 6, 1841. So that would have made "Marrie" born abt. May (she was 1 mo on the 41 census).

It appears that the birth record for "Female" Lewis or "Lewis" Lewis may be the correct one--it fits the criteria.

Louise,

I have to go and let my two four-legged boys out to do their thing. Hope this has helped you. Living over the pond in the States, I have a full membership to Ancestry because all my ancestors immigrated from England and Scotland.

Best of Luck of your continued search and keep me posted if you get confirmation on the birth.

Regards, Joan
