Don't be too worried about the spelling of his surname. They can vary alot in the records.
I am researching a name which has 4 usual variations. All my family have kept to one of them but a fellow researcher has 3 different spellings recorded on documents for LIVING family so you can imagine how easy it was to have variation when people weren'tperhaps able to read and write.

The best advice anyone can give is that you purchase the marriage cert............

It will give you his father's name and occupation.

Thank you to the people who have helped me today already ,that was very good of you,but would gratefull if any body has any extra info ,ideas if they have him in there tree or kno about him as i have now been looking for about 6 months and kno that he spelt his name as Thompsett as it is i the 1901 census all the best from JANxxxx

as there are several spellings for this name in the family tree but James sir names was spelt as above .please can some one help to finde out who James Thompsett Born Laughton Sussex Parents were.he married Julia Moon in Brighton.Around the 1893 or 1894 time,i would be most grateful as i fear i have been folowing not the correct line.thank you JAN
