Can't seem to find him in 1861. The closest one is a George Newell, age 20 married to Mary. They live in Bradford and it says that they were both born there.
There is a marriage on Free BMD of George Newell and Mary Simpson in Bradford in 1860. Could that be him?

George married maria Foster and I really dont think they were from Bradford.

I would say Glitter's got him in 1861. Sure looks like Newell to me. Perhaps he met Maria at the flax mill? Him windin' the bobbins and her spreadin' the flax.
