Could be Charlotte was married before so you won't find a Bell/Thorpe marriage.

The birth cert. will tell you.

Thanks Rose! Yes I remember now - talk of Aunt Vera...

I dont have the cert yet. I am asking my Auntie to find it.

Im just confused that I cant find the marriage as I have both names!

I was wondering if there is anybody on here who can help please?

I'm trying to research my dads side of the family but have already hit stumbling blocks as his grandparents were hardly talked about etc so it is proving very difficult to get any further.

My Grandad was Charles Bell but went by Tony for some reason... his father was John Bell. His mother was Charlotte Thorpe. THey lived in Retford and as far as we can gather they grew up Nottinghamshire too.

I cant find a marriage between Charlotte and John at all...!??! :(

My Grandad was born June 1922.

Do the names sound familiar to anybody? Or does anybody have any ideas on where I go from here?
