William Henry Rogers Born abt 1884.(all information comes via talking to elderly relatives, some information conflicts so here is what we believe to be fact.)
We think he may have changed his name, but don't know which bit.
We have his marriage cert.( we are 100% certain we have the right person here as we know a lot about his wife).
He uses the name William Henry on this.He lists his father as William Henry Rogers. We believe he may have been born in Kent.
The witness' on the marriage cert are a Thomas Rogers and a Gertrude Rogers
We know his father married again when William's(1884) mother died,we think he was around 12 at this time. They were living in Eltham Kent at that time. The children from the first marriage didn't get on with the step-mother,he may have run away to the army and at this point changed his name.He would have been young. At some point he was in The Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry,he went to Russia and Ireland after WW1 before returning to marry. He then went to India and finally moved back to the Eltham area around1929..
Thomas is not remembered as a brother
He had a brother George who ended up living in Bournmouth,a sister Mary who died late1890- early1900.I can not pick up anything from the census' so any help would be greatly appreciated.
