I'm struggling to find the parents, brothers and sisters of Elizabeth Ann Godfrey born 1884 in Armley, Leeds.
I have found her as a border with another family in the 1891 census. And also as a border in the 1901 census.
I can't seem to find her in the 1881 census, which should be the most useful one.
I have found her birth reference as 9b 605 (or 505, the print is not clear enough to be sure) so as a last resort, I could send for a copies of these birth certificates, which would tell me who her parents were.
I'm fairly new to this, so any help would be appreciated.
With thanks Keith

I would say its 505 from zooming in on the image and comparing it to other numbers on the page.
I would get the cert then you will have more search tools for her parents, when you order you can specify that the image is hard to read, they will search for you then and wont charge more than the £7

her birth? Elizabeth Ann Godfrey Year of Registration: 1884 Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep District: Leeds (1837-1929) County: Yorkshire - West Riding Volume: 9b Page: [56]0[56] (click to see others on page)
that will give parents..had a look at this image and does look like a 505....if you enlarge the page its bit easier to compare to other numbers on page.

interesting thing !!
when you click on view others on the same page it comes up with George Godfrey too altho looking at his ref page looks like 506 but its poss they were twins and Elizabeth is one page & the George is on the next page ,this would be cos there were only so many listings per page so the next registration would start on the next page .
So Twins maybe??

I have just realised my mathmatical mistake (1881 / 1884) & rushed to delete my post before anyone saw it.
Too late, but what a response.
Thanks to everyone for your help.
Shirley, the twins theory is interesting. I'm finding that with my family research, I answer one question and create two more.
Thanks again Keith

can you approach this from another angle/
presume you have gone back to Elizabeth & not trying to come forward ,so who did she marry and have you the cert cos it will give her dads name which will help track her down

Hi Lost for Words
You could well be on to something.
There was a Dan born 1861, so it is likely that he was her father
Many thanks
