I am sorry, I cannot see a William Smith with mother Charlotte on the census that match any of the ones you have. With a 12 year span, can you not narrow it down a little.

What age was he on his marriage certificate? (full age I bet)

Do you know of any siblings for William/William Frederick Jnr? If we can pinpoint them on a census, possible we can make an educated guess at the date of the parents marriage

See above, there is no easy way to find it! What information do you have on his parents marriage, lets see if we can work it out.
As explained, if you do not know even which birth it is, it is going to be a long job.

i just need to know the mother's maiden name i have been given different information about his parents marriage and want to see if her name matches what i have been given

KeithInFujairah Report 28 Oct 2007 13:28

If you know what the parents names are ie James & Emily for instance, you could order the certificates stipulating a checking point of the parents names. If you order from the GRO online, they will deduct £3 for the search if it is an incorrect match.

Otherwise it is going to be a long search for them on the census, trying to find the parents marriage etc, then there is no guarantee that they will be the correct parents.
