Where they are getting married is the place you will probably find info, so if marrying at Maidstone, the bride's address, then the marriage will be found at the CRO Kent which does happen to be Maidstone. There are other CRO's in Kent but Maidstone will be a start. A search for info usually requires a fee, but you can look yourself for nothing or you can join a Kent FHS which will often have CD's of parish registers. If married Hastings, grooms address then you will have to go to Hastings? or other Sussex CRO. You may also be lucky enough to find actual Marriage Licence which gives you more info, but not all these have survived.

Remember that back then, as is still often the case even now, the marriage would take place at the Bride's local church. Licence could be because of pregnancy, having enough money not to want people to know or other reasons. I note she is older than him which might be a factor somewhere.

When you find the actual details it will tell you names + whether OTP (Of this Parish) so you will have exact parish or whether came from another parish which will then say comes from wherever, Hastings? The marriage will also say either "By Licence" or banns and then you can see if they have the actual licence, They are interesting when you find them.

A relative of mine has come across the followng information online regarding a shared relative's wedding and we were wondering how we could find out more information about this couple?

:- Richard Coussens of Hastings, Sussex, Bricklayer batchelor aged 21 & Elizabeth Coussens of Maidstone, Spinster aged 24 wed. 1759.

She has no idea which village (?) in Maidstone bride hails from or brides maiden name. The Coussens family are mainly located in Hastings.
Would anyone have any idea where we could locate more information regarding bride and groom.

We would appreciate any help or advice given.
