but James had siblings Bertha, Kate, Albert and Frank, another kind person found these for me in the 1891 census under the surname bannister. I just cant find any more James Barnsleys listed for 1888/89 in Sheffield apart from the one that I have the birth cert for. On his marriage cert it has got him listed as aged 30 in Dec 1919 living at 33/12 allen street, sheffield. I have looked on the 1901 census and have found a Frank, Albert and George Barnsley all with the occupation as a Carter, (Which is what it states on His marriage cert for Albert) and I have found a Bertha Barnsley marrying a John Pryor in 1907. Could it be possible that James thought Albert (his brother) was his guardian/father being 12 years older as being born in 1877. His father according to the birth cert was William Barnsley (a silver plater) and his mother Mary Barnsley formerly Reaney. Any help/info would be really apprecitaed dont know where to go from now.

death certs are not always reliable for correct age to given. it depends who reg the death, some didnt always know birth details.

o/n/d 1946 age 58 sheffield. vol 2d page 149... this will be all the death cert tells you to birth ..

Could anyone please look up a death please of James Barnsley b1889 d1946 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, so I can purchase the death cert. I have purchased a marriage cert for James which I know is the correct one, but I have also purchased a birth certificate which I presumed was the correct one until the fathers names dont match up. On the marriage cert it has his father as Albert Barnsley deceased, but on the birth cert it states William Barnsley, hoping if I purchase the death cert it will give me the correct date of birth.
