On findmypast site there are passenger lists for ships which sailed from Liverpool-there are at least 3 with a C H Dummett who could have been a crew member. Perhaps someone with some spare credits could check them out for you.

the leah born at sea was my3x gran and even she lied she was really born in devon spent a fortune loooking for her as she was surposed to be born abroard but a wonderfull member on here found her birth in devon. sorry just re-read your message most of the dummetts named a child leah, the leah born at sea was charles sister.

This I presume is a Leah in 1881-obviously not the same one as 1901 because of the age. The interesting thing is she was born at sea so could Charles have spent a lot of time afloat and therefore missed the censuses?

hi hoping any of you great people could help me i am looking for
charles henry symonds dummett born 1858 in braunton devon.
for some reason he also went by the name alma c h s dummett.
i have his birth and his marriage to sarah bennett buti am unable to find him in the 1881 census or in the 1901 census.
forgot to say he moved to liverpool with his family quite early
