Trying to help a friend trace her father's family, all I have is as follows:
Harry Porter Hill married a girl called ? Hempel they had a son Denis Michael b.1919 in West Ham, who married Gwendoline Jean Heard, 1942 in Baschurch, Shrewsbury, they had 3 children (my friend being one). The problem I have is that they think Harry left Ireland under a cloud and I can't find any info in the uk lists beyond the births of 2 of his children. (The other is Marjorie b 1910 in West Ham.) So the rumour could be true.

Ringing any bells with anyone?
