It does sound as though she was a live in servant but can you find her on a census Christopher? That would give the names of all the people of the household and may be a way of sorting it out. You would probably get more advice if you post this type of question on the TIPS board.

i have a copy of a relatives birth cert and have a query so i hope this is the right forum.

it gives her mother's name then: general servant (domestic of 123 abc road). it then lists the mother's address as 123 abc road.

does this mean she was a live in servant? or that she was a daily (and worked elsewhere) and this was her home address?

any help or pointed in the right direction would be great.
