Occupation on Birth Cert

i have a copy of a relatives birth cert and have a query so i hope this is the right forum.

it gives her mother's name then: general servant (domestic of 123 abc road). it then lists the mother's address as 123 abc road.

does this mean she was a live in servant? or that she was a daily (and worked elsewhere) and this was her home address?

any help or pointed in the right direction would be great.

regards
christopher

More then likely a Daily servant, I don't think they really stayed employed once they were pregnant and found out...

thanks for that. unfortunately it occurs just after the last available census!

it's just weirdly written with it saying: "general servant (domestic of ....) and then writing the same address as home address"

cheers anyway

It would be interesting to find out who WAS living there at the time of the census...or to Google the address to find out the type of property.

This might help to clarify the answer for you.
