he didnt have a middle name think it is unusual most people were given middle names around that time but think his mum sarah was illiterate maybe i know she was blind/deaf/dumb maybe thats the reason why or maybe just because he was born illegitimate ?

yes he was a master blacksmith when he got married and was living in great bowden which is near mkt harborough on marriage cert

Cant see him even using soundex on surname or no surname at all just place of births............have you thought he may well be fighting in the first Boer War?

Does he have a middle name? May he be recorded under that?
