Find Ancestors

Trying to find Children / family related to Ernest Thomas Mann - born 1900 in Leicester who married May Hickling in 1922. I have him in the 1901 census - his parents married in 1899, so dont know if he was an only child or not?? Can anyone find any siblings please???
Ernest's dad - Walter Mann was my grandad. If anyone can tell me more about Ernest, his dad or their decendents- I am particularly keen to find living relatives - I believe that I may have found 1 so far. knowledge of whether Ernest had any brothers or sisters would be very much appreciated.

Walter James Mann mairred Ada Rutter as you said 1899 the birth index doesn't give mothers maiden name until after 1910
Elsie A Mann b 1911 July-Sept Leicester vol 7a p 427 mother maiden name Rutter

found several other Manns b Leicester including 2 Walters but you would have to obtain their birth certificates to find if right mothers maiden name

did a wild card using several christian names with Rutter as maiden name but Elsie the only one that came up

Ada Rutter married Walter Mann in 1899 and almost immediately had a son Ernest in 1900.

Many years later, in 1927, Walter married my gran Annie Kilby -nee Fowkes - they had had a child together in 1922, Irene (my mum, who passed in 1977).

I have tried, but havent been sucessful in finding any siblings for Ernest, but feel confident that it is likely there were some - as at the turn of the century some families were quite large - so to be an only child seemed a bit unlikely.

You have now found Elsie, born 1911- thank you. I will now want to find out as much about her as is pos, particularly her decendents and any living family.

At this moment in time, I believe that Ada dies in 1919, which would meal Elsie would be 8yrs old - is it pos to find out what happens to her? - Any ideas where I should be looking?

Also, 1900 birth of Ernest and 1911 birth of Elsie. thats 11 yrs difference - it is likely there are other siblings in between - I am obviously not very good at finding them. Any ideas?

All these events are likely to be in Leicester. Your help most appreciated .

I now know that Elsie married Arthur Ward in leicester in 1933.
I have found one child so far born 1935 - Colin A Ward & I have also found his children.
I dont know if Elsie & Arthur Ward had any other children, but believe that it is more likely than not that they did - can anyone help trace them please - we are looking at births in leicester between 1933 & say 1950ish in the name of "Ward" with mothers maiden name of "Mann"

I am still looking also for any siblings of Elsie b 1911 & Ernest b 1900. children of Walter J Mann & Ada Rutter.

Hello Gillian the problem is without a known Christian name you have to just put in first name beginning with A then look at all the Manns for a maiden name Rutter etc. Mann is a common name so you get maybe 2 pages each quarter to check I tried from 1913 onwards but gave up as just to many pages and often blurred so can't make out names. I imagine same problem with Ward as is with mine Clark just too many to do it 'blind'. I have just done a check for a person looking for Varty sirname that was easy as often only 2 or 3 on pages sorry good luck Pat
