Even old here people are making this mistake.

I'll bet you were looking at "trying to find (surname)" posts when you wrote yours. Unfortunately, the surname you saw when you wrote it didn't show up in your post. This happened to me, and when I asked for advice, it was explained that this function only works if you go to the "trying to find (surname)" list directly from your own surname list.

So if you want people looking for the same surname as you to see your post when they filter "trying to find" by surname, that's the way you gotta do it. You could also just edit your post to put the surname in the subject line!

my family name on my fathers side, goes back 2 generations to northern ireland, then im stuck! any ideas tips? im new here btw.
