Shirley Report 2 Nov 2007 19:02

I am looking for Harriett Jane and John Trotter. Harriett died in Islington in 1866 aged 68.. Have not been able to find them in 1841, 1851 or 1861.
Harriett was born around 1800.
I have a subsciption to The Genealogist and cannot find them but I think I have seen them listed on Ancestry for 1861.
Could someone be kind enough to check this out for me.

Thanks

Shirley

Brilliant.

I am amazed to get so many replies.
That is them as John was a shoemaker.

The Genealogist seems to have so many of my people missing.
I know with whom I will subcribe next year.

Thanks again everyone.

Hi Sylvia

I have been busy copying everything down and each time I come back on I find some more wonderful information.
They are my husband's ancestors. When I first met him he was living Old Street so he had not moved far!
I do appreciate all you have done

Thanks again

Ivy

It seems strange to turn from a Shoemaker to a dairyman.
I loved the gold bit too.

Hi shirley,

that change from shoemaker to dairyman back to shoemaker on successive censuses made me think as well.

BUT the children's names are the same, and their occupations match.

So ............... maybe he just took a year or two out?!!

Have found them on the Genealogist in 1841. Transcribed as CROTHER.
They are under WOOLER in 1851 and TOLTER in 1861.
