Thanks :) can I therefore be really cheeky and go back to 1861 instead as its her parents details really wat (although am grateful for the 1871 result) |

it does have occupation on the certificate but I cannot read it - the second part may say mariner so i make it mas mariner but that makes not sense to me |

1861 possibly? |

|
KathleenBell | Report | 2 Nov 2007 21:46 |
If the certificate says Mas Mariner it will be short for Master Mariner. |

wow thanks for all the help I think it looks like the result from Kathleen for the 1851 certainly looks the best match as it fits with both fathers name and the age on the Marriage certificate and father occupation. |

Think they must be mistranscribed on the 1861 as I can't find them at the moment which is why I went to the 1851 census. |

Ian Bruce (born Pickles) | Report | 2 Nov 2007 21:59 |
so does that mean they had a servant in 1851? |
|||
|
KathleenBell | Report | 2 Nov 2007 22:03 |
Quite likely they did have a servant as a Master Mariner was quite a good job. However she could have just lived with them and been a servant elsewhere. |
