You didn't mention that 14 year old Thomas is the son of Thomas & Mary Ann, not William & Maud.

If Thomas is your grandfather, do you ahve his birth certificate?

Is Mary Ann his mother??

I ask because it is difficult to find a William born in Birmingham father Thomas and mother Mary Ann

Similarly,

I wonder if this is Thomas' marriage to Mary Ann

Marriages Mar 1877 (>99%)

>>>>Baker Thomas William Birmingham 6d 155
Guest Isaac Birmingham 6d 155
>>>>>Harvey Mary Ann Birmingham 6d 155
Knight Caroline Birmingham 6d 155
Knight Carolne Birmingham 6d 155

Both these registrations (ie William's and Thomas's) are suppositions only.

You should get the birth certificate of one of the children of each marriage and find out what the mother's maiden name was.

Then you can get the marriage certiificate(s) IF it fits, and find out the fathers' names of the brides and grooms.

I have sited his discharge papers, from the army, showing my gmother. I also mentioned his father (Thomas) as living in Barford St.

Very true, Mary Ann, could have been a step mother

His entry into the army give place of birth, as b`ham
