Thanks Kath, Reg, Chris & Sam ...

That sounds very much like the place Sam.

Thats a good point Kath. about her marrying .. though the story is she didnt, It may explain why i cant find her death under Coram!

Thanks

Oops, I deleted my reply by mistake!

Yes, the death would be registered in the usual way.

The National Archives website has details of where hospital records are kept. Using this, it seems that Wesham Park Hopital in Lancashire was previously known as Kirkham Infirmary and was also a mental hospital so that is probably the hospital you need.

You could try the archives in this link. They would probably know or could point you in the right direction.

Good evening folks .. as with most family secrets/mysteries i dont have much to go on so please bare with me.

My great aunt: Amy Coram, Born 1892. Heaton Norris, Stockport,
is registered in the census of 1901 as living in 19 Shaw Road, South Shore, Blackpool. all ok so far!!

Family mystery is: that she died in Kirkham mental hospital? (lancashire)
a) was there such a place??
b) if there was and if she did die there, they would i assume.. have registered the death in the normal way?? I ask this as i have searched Ancestry for the death record but have found nothing.
The story is that she died relatively young mid to late 20's??

Any info on Amy or the said hospital would be most welcomed.

Kindest regards

Rio (Andy)
