Using the info found on the 1891 census their is a marriage for the pair , again found on the free bmd web site:

In order to trace your grandfathers ancestors you'll need first his marriage cert to your granadmother to ascertain his age & his fathers name & occupation.

Your next step would to take this info & search for & purchase your grandfather's birth certificate to obtain both parents names, cross refrence the father against the marriage cert. You could then look for the trio on the 1901 census ( as you have done ) .

Next step will be to find a marriage for Harold's parents named on his birth certificate again this will give you their ages & their fathers occupations again helping you to search & view the families on the earlier census details.

If Harold was born in Sussex around 1900 their is a birth to match the 1901 findings from the free bmd web site - 1901 census records Harolds place of birth as Lindfield with the Cuckfield District covers

i have mannaged to find james strong in the 1901 census which says he was aged 43 and a railway blacksmith born in falmer sussex married to a lady called elizabeth born 1861 also lists some children but cant find when they married or where elizabeth came from or her maiden name, any extra info or help and advice would be great i would like to trace them back but am really stuck at this point. i beleive james son harold born 1900 in lindfield sussex is my grandad so i would love to be able to find any extra info on him as well but i keep hitting a brick wall not sure if i am doing this right or not on the right lines, many thanks lorraine
