Could somebody please help me,I have only been doing my family tree for a week or so and i am finding it all difficult, i am trying to find my grandmothers marriage,or any other information. I know she lived in sheffield at Portland Walk for most of her life. My father does not have much information on his mother or father. My grandma's name is edna thonton born in 1918, she married john patrick o'roarke, not sure of date but he was born in ireland around 1926, then moved to sheffield, the only clue i have is that he was 41 when he died in 1967. When my father was 11 years old, if my fathers date of birth helps it is 11 aug 1956. I would be really grateful if anybody can help me with any sort of information at all, my father has never known hardly anything about his family, and i know he will have relatives in Ireland but i just dont know where to start.
thank you so much

Thanks so much to all of you, especially thomas, you have helped so much. I have also just found out that frederick and edna had a son called barry, but not yet sure of dates of birth. I cant believe my grandmother is originally from bradford even my father didnt know that.
Do you suggest my next step is ordering certificates of birth etc, so as to trace john o'roarke's family?
