I am trying to trace a Robert Armstrong who if still alive would be about 77 years old. He most likely lives in Southampton and retired from the Cunard line in 1990. His las ship was Queen Elizabeth II. I have his Navy discharge number and would like advice on how to trace him please.

Quite difficult, I would say. You could contact Cunard, you could put a message on sites like Forces Reunited, or Google for sites on the ship - there might be some leads. You could contact all the R Armstrongs in Southampton on the electoral roll. You could write to the local Southampton newspaper to see if anyone knows him.
