You need to start with the people whose details you are sure of.....then work backwards.........verifying the info for each generation.......until you come to this couple (or not, as the case may be)
You don't, at present, seem to have any proof that they are your family members.

I was hoping someone could help piece together some new information I have found on my family.
I have recently seen a inscription that has been written at the front of a book and would like to confirm who these people were. The book was given to my mother by her grandmothers sister. She is unsure if the sister said it was her grandparents.
To W Lister (thinking William) from his wife Elizabeth Feb 1851.
William Lister 1862 strewsberry shropshire is in my tree ( son). I thought his parents were Ruth Robson and Thomas Lister.
Could they have been W Lister and Elizabeth?
Lister link came mostly from Durham
MAybe 1871 census for William 1862 will name his parents. I might have got the wrong info from 1881 which had Ruth Lister as widow.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
