Can anyone provide me with info on my great grandfather John William Bannister ( Banister ) born in Scarborough in 1849 and died in Hokitika New Zealand 26 November 1924? He was shown as the son of William Bannister in the English Census of 1861 and was 12 years of age. His brothers and sisters were Sarah Ann 13, Elizabeth 7, and David Robert 5. He was a lawyer at some stage in England and immigrated to the South Island of New Zealand where he became a school teacher and set up the first school on the West Coast of NZ. |

Have you tried to Google him for the later years when he set up the school in NZ? |
