Does anyone know how to obtain a birth record of someone born in Gibraltar in 1838. Record office in Gib and Kew have no record. He was a marine, still no record, the reason is we want to trace his father william and who was his mother? Also are there any brothers or sisters. We went to Kew but got completely lost and bogged down in there and could not find anything. We have info on him from the British 1881, 1891 and 1901 census. Family Search, Marriage Certificate and Kent Family History.

Hope someone can help.

Have you checked in the GRO index of army births overseas?

Are there any indications on Joseph's marriage certificate why his father was in Gibraltar. Army, Navy?

Is there anything in Joseph's RN serivce record which may help you.
