You'd need to send off for the cert.

If it's an old marriage it might show on IGI. What year is it?

If it's somewhere like Medway they have records on line that you can trawl through and I know some other areas do. Is Forden the place - where is it?

Q3 is the third quarter of the year so that would be Jul-Sep as you've found.

Forden sounds like the place. It is a place showing in the FreeBMD district listings so that would make sense.

You need to order the certificate from the GRO or General Records Office. Google for it - it will be at the top of the list. It's a fairly clear site so track down the form you need to order the marriage cert. Take your time filling out the form. I usually just put one name in for a marriage cert but if you know both names are correct put them both. I wouldn't worry about middle names though.

You'll need the volume and page number which you put on the form. There's a box you tick on the form to say you have the volume and page number otherwise you will be asked for the date of the marriage which you don't have (yet). Double check the form before you hit the final button - it does give you plenty of chances to do this.

You should be OK now so go order it - the sooner you order it the sooner it will arrive! Good luck!

Meant to say - whenever you order a cert never pay more than £7 on line. It's a pound or two more by fax or phone. But there are places out there that will charge you £25 or more to get a cert so ignore those.

Go to www.gro.gov.uk, click on Ordering Certificates Online in the box to the right of the screen, and follow instructions.

It will ask you for the GRO reference number, that's the 2 numbers to the right of Forden, ie 11B 266

NEVER give too much information as if it isn't exactly that on the certificate they will not send it!

So I would just use ONE name, the one you are certain of, and do not include the middle name.

Good luck

It will take about 4 to 8 days to get to you in the UK.

I see that you now have the GRO details to get the certificate ordered.

As an aside, an index of the locally held records is available online on the WelshBMD site.

http://www.northwalesbmd.org.uk/bmd_welcome.html

It shows that the marriage occurred at Welshpool ST Mary.

Surname Forename(s) Church / Chapel / Register Office Registers At Reference
HODGES Henry John Welshpool, St Mary Powys - Welshpool CW16/4/97

There is a corresponding entry for Edna May HEALEY.
