The only reference that I can find for Harriet Roughton is a submitted record on IGI. Personally I have no faith in submitted records,
There is, however a christening of Harriet Pimm and it's extracted:
Harriet Gallier Pimm christened 9 Oct.1815, Measham, Derbyshire. Mother Ann Pimm.
An illegitimate child whose mother later married a Roughton causing the confusion?

Was looking for the christening of your John Milner on the BVRI discs. Unfortunately the coverage of Staveley only goes up to 1812.
There is, however a John Milner christened there 17 June, 1792 with parents Benjamin & Elizabeth. Could this John be your John's father?

Margaret
You are right,sorry about mistake.
Andy
Thanks for info.Maybe Harriet married twice as her maiden name must have been Roughton. It would explain why marriage details weren't found.

You know, I wouldn't dream of putting a request on these boards unless I checked and double-checked that I had the facts right and hadn't made a typo.
Oops, the marriage was 1843 not 1872!

Married on the 61 census, too.

MargaretM Report 7 Nov 2007 13:24

They're married on the 1871 census and looks like they have been for a number of years. Oldest child with them is Ann, aged 27, blind.

Are you sure about the year of their marriage. Can't find them in 1872 and Harriet would have been 59.

Have you searched FreeBMD for the marriage? The cert would give you their father's names.
