Really struggling to find out anytihng at all about this chap.He was born c1825,don't know his parents and was a merchant seaman I believe,Probably Hull or certainly Yorkshire. Don't know his wife's name either so difficulty in looking up census details as John died before his son Thomas' wedding to Ellen Ringrose in 1867. Thomas was a stationary engine driver.
Would love to find out anything really, his wife or parents name. Whether Thomas had any siblings. Thomas was born 1845(in one census) and 1847 (in another) although his marriage certicicate gives 1845.
Thomas wilson also died before his son Arthur got married in 1912.
Hope you can even give me a glimmer

Thanks

Where was Thomas born?

Need the info to locate him on censuses..........

If you haven't located the father........what is the basis for your info about his birth year?

I don't know if Merchant Seaman records would be of any use but if you copy and paste the following link to the NA it gives you the research guide to the records available.

Hi Reggie, Angie, Chris
Thanks for all your input.I wasonly given the most skeleton of details.John Wilsons details were ones that were given to me. Most of his son Thomas' details were taken from his marriage certificate. He married Ellen Ringrose 21/6/1867. The cert stated that his father was deceased.. If his mother was a widow in 1851 that narrows the window a bit.
The 1871 census gave details of Thomas/Ellen and 2 of their children.
The witness signatures on the marriage certificate look like Joseph Andrew and John Sifsons.
Haven't looked up merchant seaman records yet.

Thanks for the help

Sheila
