Hi everyone, I'm trying to find anything I can about my husband's father's family. Robert Alexander was born 16/07/1909 and died 2/05/1955 he was married to Agnes Hay.

I found a Robert Henry Alexander --birth index for Doncaster

Robert Howe Alexander birth index S. Shields

Researching:
Photo of Lea Cottages, Wentworth, South Yorks.----it was home to my Maternal grandparents and their 11 children for many years--the ROBINSON's from Wentworth--also reseaching HOBSON, Rotherham and Sheffield area -- TERRY's from South Milford--PAINTER's from Wakefield,West Yorks area and Swinton / Mexborough South Yorks. SHILLITO from Wombwell South Yorks

Thanks for the PM
You say you think Robert was born in Scotland (Edinburgh Area) However when looking on Scotlands People site it only lets you search for births up to 1906 !!! (they must be covered by the 100 years privacy law)
