I am looking to see if anyone has connection to the "Griffith" family at one time from the parish of Beddgelert. I was informed by a distant cousin that a brother (name unknown) of my 2nd Great-grandmother, Jane (Griffith) Owen, grandson was "Hugh Griffith". I have been trying to piece information for Hugh found on the internet and have the following so far:

Hugh Emrys Griffith son of William and Mary Griffith was born May-30-1912 in Marian-glas, Anglesey, Wales, and died May-14-1980 in London, England. He married Margaret Belgunder von Dechend 1947.

Military service: Joined the British army and served in India and Burma during World War II. His acting career was put on hold as World War II loomed

Obituary: May-14-1980, HUGH GRIFFITH, Award-Winning Actor, Dead 67. Won an Oscar as best supporting actor in 1959 for "Ben Hur." He portrayed Sheik Ilderim, whose white horses won the chariot race. He was married but had no children. Cause of death: Heart Attack.

I believe that I might have found the 1851 and 1871 census for the "Griffith" household that could determine the name of Hugh's grandfather.

1851=Household head was William Griffith and wife Charlotte along with 3 sons: JOHN, GRIFFITH, & WILLIAM; 1 daughter: JANE living in Beddgelert parish.

1871=Household head was John Griffith, butcher in Llanberis parish along with his brother William (also a butcher) and sister Jane (butcher servant).

Please contact me with any information with connection to this family. Thank You!
